Asked in the UK, now asking the country Zionists control from Israel

Review
Praises for the hardback edition of The Invention of Jewish People: 'Shlomo Sand has written a remarkable book. ... Anyone interested in understanding the contemporary Middle East should read this book.' -- Tony Judt '...a formidable polemic against claims that Israel has a moral right to define itself as an explicitly and exclusively Jewish society, in which non-Jews, such as Palestino-Israelis, are culturally and politically marginalised.' -- Max Hastings, Sunday Times 'Shlomo Sand's The Invention of the Jewish People (Verso) is both a welcome and, in the case of Israel, much needed exercise in the dismantling of nationalist historical myth and a plea for an Israel that belongs equally to all its inhabitants. Perhaps books combining passion and erudition don t change political situations, but if they did, this one would count as a landmark.' --Eric Hobshawm, Observer, Books of the year

'A string of firecrackers.' -- Stephen Howe, Independent, Book of the Week 'Sand takes on a formidable tradition in claiming that moral validity in the Middle East needs good history, and no discussion of the region any longer seems complete without acknowledgement of his book.' --Independent on Sunday, Best History Books of 2009

'An important book one that hammers another nail into Zionism s ideological coffin.' -- Tony Greenstein, Weekly Worker '[Sand's] quiet earthquake of a book is shaking historical faith in the link between Judaism and Israel.' --Rafael Behr, Observer
Product Description
Bestselling evaluation of the national myth of the Jewish exile from the promised land, by leading Israeli historian

This book is a welcome addition that will defy the pro-Israeli inquisition that seeks, through intimidation, to silence legitimate criticism.

TRX Suspension Straps Review

2 TRX Suspension Straps Reviewhttp://www.kbatoday.com Here's my review of the TRX suspension training straps. Bottom line is...I LOVE these things! I can take them with me anywhere I go and get a tremendous body weight workout. Every exercise you do with these involves your own body weight. Need to go heavier or more intense, increase your angle. Are you a beginner at this whole exercise and working out thing? No problem, adjust the angle to reduce the intensity. Great tool for physical therapy too. The Wounded Warrior Project uses these for just that, physical therapy. I could go on and on about my satisfaction with every aspect of these straps, but I won't. I'll just continue to shoot video of my TRX workouts and let the TRX speak for itself.

P.S.
You gotta get one of these!!!

I’m asthmatic and get a bad chest cold for 1-2 weeks after a few days of exercising – any ideas why?

To give you more details, I have bronchial asthma and exercise induced asthma. I can take e.g. dance classes and would be fine, but if I try something like power walking then 3-4 days after starting exercise, I'll wake up with a sore throat, runny nose ... and then develop a chest cold which sticks with me for 1-2 weeks.

I'm also allergic to citrus-based vitamin c and have just started taking colostrum to build up my immune system. I'd love to be able to exercise but have had this problem for years.

Anyone else have the same problem? Or perhaps suggestions how to get around this? I find power walking the easiest because gym schedules are not convenient given my work hours, and I live in a tiny place and so can't do an exercise dvd indoors (really no space).

Any suggestions would be great!

Hi Bella:
As you may or may not know, colds (upper respiratory infections) are caused by a virus. You can't catch them from going out in the cold or rain with the wrong clothing on (as many people think).
It your case, asthma restricts the intake of air (oxygen) to your lungs, so while exercising you breath harder than normal.
For some reason during these times, you re breathing in viruses that start this infection (cold).
The problem is..there are hundreds of different cold viruses around us everyday and breathing deeply while exercising (with a weak immune system) exposes you to a larger than normal risk.
I would suggest trying a different exercise in an area where you may control the air quality, such as your home (using air quality (H.E.P.A) air cleaners and possibly disinfectants.
I know.....it stinks...I've been there.
I wish you well.

What are some good exercises I can do at home?

I need a good exercise DVD or plan I can do at home. I live in a small apartment on the 4th floor so I can't do allot of noisy jumping. I have 2 kids 4 and 20 mos, and no babysitting available so I need it to be something I can do at home. I desperately need to loose the weight from my pregnancies and just don't know where to start. I also don't want to put out allot of money, no room for any exercise equipment that takes up allot of room.

I really need to lose this weight for my own self esteem. I have put on about 30 lbs since having kids. Not from being pregnant, I packed it on after having babies. I really want to get healthier.

ok ..i now alot of exercises .ha i can tell you.. i have been to boot camp for 15 months. some good exercises are many! reall good ones to loose weight and fast is probly.. squat thrust.. try sit ups.. side stadle hops . pushups. holding squats in place are verry good ., there alot more but these are the ones that will actually get you going with some motivation and effort-

weight loss help FAST?

im 16. i need to loose weight about 2 stone. No pills. i have a wii fit and a exercise dvd so that's about as much exercise i could do. i try to eat 3 meals a day. i just find that nothings working. i don't want any recipe's or what food i should/shouldn't buy.

whens the best time to exercise and how long for?
also need something that will help me keep up my "diet" instead of making me forget and not do it.
any other tips?

Here are a few tips;

WHEN to eat for losing weight...

• Eat (at least) three times a day.
Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That's the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight... you must eat (the right things, of course)
• Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas.
• Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.
OK, one apple after 18:00
• Don't starve
Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health.
Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet.
• Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast--eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer.

WHAT to drink for losing weight...

• Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !
Can be tap, plain, mineral, sparkling. I just love mineral sparkling water!
This improves your bowel, reduces the "hunger" sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks!
Don't believe the slogan "water makes me fat". Beside being stupid... you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.
• Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed!
Don't drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.

Exercise for losing weight...

• If you want quicker results - exercise would be good.
• Don't just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts...
I guarantee THIS won't work for your weight loss...
• Start a regular exercise program and stick with it. Don't be afraid of those sweat suits and Lycra pants!
• Start swimming. Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don't regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated.
• Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, and don't shun the unconventional. For instance, did you know that regular vigorous dancing is exercise too?
• Also Cardiovascular exercises such as running, jogging, or aerobics will help you lose that unwanted belly fat. Weight training can also help you lose body fat because the more muscle mass you have, the more ability your system has to burn body fat.

Good luck!
Hope this helps~

IS THIS A GOOD PLAN for healthy weight loss?

Hi I'm trying to lose weight in a healthy way , I need to lose about 5 stone and I hope to lose at least 3 stone , maybe more by the end of the year .so here is my diet :
Breakfast - shredded wheat or oats with skimmed milk
Morning snack - 10.nuts
Lunch - tuna salad no dressing
Afternoon snack - 10.nuts
Dinner - grilled chicken or fish with steamed veg
and hiit cardio 3 times a week at least and exercise dvd some days

I'd recommend of those snacks being fruit, or adding some fruit to your breakfast. Though nuts are good, they are high in fat. Rather it's healthy fat or not, you can have too much. But other than that, this does sound relatively decent. I try to eat more vegetables myself, but this isn't bad.

Good luck!!!

Quiz question?

Can a private pilot perform preventive maintenance on his airplane
if......
1.Medical is expired.
2.no Flight Review in 3+ years, or in any way current to exercise the privileges of his Pilots certificate.
he holds no repairman's cert, plane is US regestered
why must he be the owner? where is this written?
My point is, if the airman cannot exercise the privileges of his certificate, does § 43.3
still apply?
My point is, if the airman cannot exercise the privileges of his certificate, does § 43.3
still apply?
coffeebuzz, I come up with some of these questions as I prepare (writing lesson plans)
for the CFI candidate. I have plenty of time as I
just recently obtained my CFI and even more recently my CFII.
no obscure AC on this on, however I am awaiting a response from the FAA's legal dept. on this matter. I too have the same thoughts as Apollo, just nothing
(yet) in writing.
The thing I keyed on was "owner or operator"
If the pilot (non owner) is unable to exercise his pilot certificate privileges, he cannot legally operate the plane, does that exclude him from doing the maintenance. I have to admit I have stumped my self on this one!
thanks for taking the time to respond guys and gals..
I just realized that in the question I put "his" airplane. I really meant "an"

43.3(g) - "...the holder of a pilot certificate issued under part 61 may perform preventive maintenance on any aircraft owned or operated by that pilot which is not used under part 121, 129, or 135 of this chapter."

This neither permits nor forbids the certificate holder from doing preventative maintenance without a medical.

61.3(c)(1) - "Except as provided for in paragraph (c)(2) of this section, a person may not act as pilot in command or in any other capacity as a required pilot flight crewmember of an aircraft, under a certificate issued to that person under this part, unless that person has a current and appropriate medical certificate that has been issued under part 67 of this chapter..."

This section also neither permits nor forbids preventative maintenance without a medical.

61.23 (b) lists operations that do not require a medical. Preventative maintenance is not listed as an operation that does NOT require a medical, whereas John B's example of being a glider pilot is specifically mentioned as not requiring a medical.

61.23(a) - "Except as provided in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section, a person - (3) Must hold at least a third-class medical certificate - (i) When exercising the privileges of a private pilot certificate"

Preventative maintenance is not listed under (b) or (c), so that would imply it is a privilege that requires a medical certificate.

You might argue that preventative maintenance is not a "privilege", as listed under 61.113. However, 61.113 only enumerates privileges and limitations related to acting as a pilot in command. It does not necessarily state that there are no other "privileges" related to that certificate. Besides, if preventative maintenance is not a "privilege", what is it then, since a certificate is required to perform such work?

As coffeebuzz pointed out, according to 61.56 and 61.57, a flight review and recent experience are only required to act as pilot in command or carry passengers, etc. They are not required to perform preventative maintenance.

I would say that the pilot cannot perform the preventative maintenance based on those regulations.

Thanks coffeebuzz! This is a tough question and I think you could almost go either way on it. This seems like one of those cases where if it is not forbidden, is it permitted? or if it is not permitted, is it forbidden? Great question.

Getting dizzy during the morning?

Hey all- I recently started (okay, two weeks ago) a lifestyle change. Basically I just started eating healthier- I replaced chocolate with fruit, pop with water, fries/potatoes with tomato and cucumber heavy salads. Instead of pizza or take-out I've been having home cooked chicken/fish, so on and so forth. I've been careful about keeping track of what I eat, making sure I get enough calories, protein, etc - I want to get fit, not starve myself or pass out. I usually eat three good meals a day, and a snack before working out.

In terms of working out- I'm up to 30 minutes a day or so of lifting weights/using our machines, plus the extra physical activity I've been doing at work, walking, and other things like playing sports, biking, or whatever tickles my fancy.

Now before I started all this, I was always at the computer (AKA not moving) except for the 3-4 days of work per week where I just stood around waiting on customers. In already two weeks I feel a difference- I was a fine worker before- but even my boss commented on my performance, energy and increased laughter among other things lately.

Now my problem: It seems that when I wake up in the mornings I find it almost impossible to get up. I'm SO tired, and SO sluggish, and sometimes I feel a bit dizzy (that's my main concern). I'm getting about 7.5-8 hours of sleep every night, but I literally have to roll myself out. Every part of my body hurts UNTIL I exercise. I'm unable to muster the energy or feel stable enough to exercise for at least 2-3 hours- by then I still feel like crap (just not as much).

As soon as I work out I feel fantastic, I feel awake, and I go the rest of the day with no problems whatsoever. I normally would leave it as that, but my mornings are driving me insane. If I was getting dizzy during exercise, or before eating I would either exert myself less, or review my diet. I'm not quite sure what to do (or what not to do)- it almost seems like being sedentary is making me dizzy??? Doesn't sound right. This has been going on for about 5 days consistently (as in the time before working out has not been increasing or decreasing, and I haven't started to have any fits of fatigue, big or small, at any other time).

I've never had hospital-worthy health problems, no tendencies to get sick, no known allergies. I have no idea what could be up! The dizziness is the most alarming, I feel.

Anyway, thanks for any help or advice you guys can offer!

first of all congrats on living a healthier lifestyle;)
just go to the doctor i guess.
